I live in Mississippi. Over the years I have visited all of the states in America except Alaska and I have resided in seven. I have also lived in Australia (1 year), the UK (8 years), Ireland (1 year) and Malaysia (1 year) and have traveled and worked overseas extensively.
I am a US Navy veteran and my family has a proud history of naval service. My experience in the navy was formative. I saw real poverty for the first time and became convinced that I should go to college.
I received a BA in Business Administration with a minor in Psychology from Eastern Washington University. I would have much rather studied philosophy or history, but I was too worried about getting a job. I didn't understand then that my real learning was ahead of me and I could pursue whatever I desired. I have continued my study of history in niches that interested me including race in America, the US Navy in the Pacific during WWII, the Civil War, and the founding of the US.
I spent 30 years in performance improvement consulting. It was challenging work and provided me the opportunity to work in amazing businesses and live in different countries and cultures. I was moderately successful, but it was never a passion. I learned a great deal and developed significant skills and knowledge which I still apply in my daily life. I am hoping to leverage some of those skills in this blog.
I have a passion for poker and learning. I would like to develop my writing skills and explore whether I have a passion for writing too. That is one of the purposes of this blog.
